Louisa Johnson Counselling

A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

About Me

My journey into counselling began with my own experience of receiving therapy. Struggling with low self-esteem and confidence, I found counselling to be a safe space where I could truly explore my thoughts and emotions. That experience was life-changing—it not only helped me grow personally but also sparked a deep interest in the power of counselling.

Looking back, I realise that even in my previous roles, I naturally used counselling skills. I was often the person people turned to when they needed to talk through their struggles, and I found real fulfilment in offering support. Eventually, this led me to formally pursue counselling as a profession.

I hold an FdSc in Counselling Theory and Practice and a BSc Hons in Counselling (First Class). As part of my ethical commitment to providing the best possible support, I regularly engage in continuing professional development (CPD), exploring topics that interest me and reflect the challenges my clients bring to sessions.

I am a registered member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). These memberships reflect my dedication to ethical practice, ongoing learning, and maintaining high professional standards to ensure that clients receive safe, effective, and confidential support.

How Counselling Can Help

Life can be challenging, and at times, we all need a space to reflect, heal, and grow. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, or navigating life transitions, I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental, and person-centred approach, tailored to your unique needs. I believe that with the right support, everyone has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change.

As a qualified and experienced therapeutic counsellor, I am dedicated to helping individuals rediscover their self-worth and emotional well-being. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your feelings, develop greater self-awareness, and build the confidence to express your true self.

My Approach

My approach is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I believe in the power of a trusting therapeutic relationship to facilitate healing and personal growth. Together, we will work on strategies to help you prioritise your needs, set healthy boundaries, and find your voice. During our sessions, you can expect a space where your thoughts and emotions are validated without fear of judgment. We will explore the patterns that may be holding you back and work towards fostering a positive self-image. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck, I am here to support you in finding clarity, resilience, and a sense of balance.

My location

I offer face-to-face sessions in Wellington, Telford which is just 3 minutes from J7 of the M54.

11 miles from Shrewsbury

7 miles from Ironbridge

In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer online sessions for clients throughout the UK via Google Meet.

First Session

Our first counselling session is an opportunity to create a safe, supportive, and open environment where we can explore your needs and expectations. During this session, we will complete a client contract to establish clear boundaries and mutual responsibilities. This includes discussing confidentiality, session structure, and the overall framework of our work together.

You will have the chance to ask any questions about the counselling process, my approach, or any concerns you may have. We will take the time to understand why you are seeking counselling at this moment, the challenges you want to address, and the goals you hope to achieve. If you have had previous counselling experiences, we can explore what was helpful (or unhelpful) to create a tailored approach that works best for you.

This session is about focusing on what matters most to you, laying the foundation for a collaborative and effective therapeutic relationship. It’s a space to begin building trust, clarify expectations, and ensure that our work aligns with your unique needs and circumstances.
